Noise Suppression for Intramagnet Electrocardiograms
نویسندگان
چکیده
Electrocardiogram monitoring, a routine practice when a patient presents a cardiovascular disturbance, is problematic during a magnetic resonance imaging session because the metallic leads, used to acquire the signal, act like antennae picking up noise interference from the magnet thereby distorting the electrocardiogram. A method is required to suppress this radio frequency noise as well as compensate for any intramagnet physiological artifacts. This is especially important for investigations of cardiac abnormalities such as ischemia. We compare the frequency and distribution of novel events between (i) intramagnet and extramagnet electrocardiograms and (ii) intramagnet electrocardiograms that have been adjusted using a wavelet denoising method coupled with a centroid differencing strategy. We show that the adjusted intramagnet cardiograms are similar to the extramagnet electrocardiograms and that the frequency and distribution of detected change points are also similar.

Simple Approach for Tremor Suppression in Electrocardiograms
Abstract: Electrocardiogram recordings are very often contaminated by high-frequency noise usually power-line interference and EMG disturbances (tremor). Filtering out the tremor remains a priori partially successful since it has a relatively wide spectrum, which overlaps the useful ECG frequency band by aperiodic noise. The proposed simple approach for tremor suppression uses heuristic relatio...
متن کاملData Partitioning Based Weighted Averaging for Noise Suppression in Biomedical Signals
In the case of biomedical signals with a quasi-cyclic character, such as electrocardiographic signals, the high resolution electrocardiograms or electrical potentials recorded from the nervous system of patients (estimating brain activity evoked by a known stimulus), as a method of averaging in the time domain may be used for noise attenuation. In this paper there is presented input data partit...
متن کاملAdaptive-Filtering-Based Algorithm for Impulsive Noise Cancellation from ECG Signal
Suppression of noise and artifacts is a necessary step in biomedical data processing. Adaptive filtering is known as useful method to overcome this problem. Among various contaminants, there are some situations such as electrical activities of muscles contribute to impulsive noise. This paper deals with modeling real-life muscle noise with α-stable probability distribution and adaptive filterin...
متن کاملAn Experimental Investigation of Enclosure’s Effect on Noise Reduction in Portable Generators (Technical Note)
The portable generators are the main means of compensating the shortage of national electricity power as in Iraq. However, their noise causes a huge disturbance, uncomforting and loss of concentration of the nearby resident. This problem requires a solution because most shops and residential houses use generators. Covering method is a simple and relatively low cost one for reduction of generato...
متن کاملRestoration of electrophysiological signals distorted by inductive effects of magnetic field gradients during MR sequences.
A generally applicable method for almost complete suppression of signal artifacts on electrophysiological signals caused by B0-gradient switching (gradient noise) is presented. The method is demonstrated for electrocardiograms (ECGs) but can also be used for other electrophysiological signals. It takes advantage of the fact that under certain conditions, the effect of switching the B0-field gra...
